B-Burst 2023

When bubbles burst – the origin of this animation is a droplet bubble created from varnish. The varnish is not yet dry and is still finding its way into shape. The paths of the SVG graphic are animated individually and disintegrate on the ground, as if they were fleeting moments dissolving in reality.

The animation is orchestrated through JavaScript, using the D3.js library to manipulate the paths in the SVG element. Here, the individual elements of the SVG are systematically moved and then removed from the DOM (Document Object Model) to create the effect of continuous motion. This process reflects the unpredictable flow of the varnish as it spreads over the surface in the physical world and eventually solidifies.

This digital representation extends the boundaries of a traditional canvas by transforming the temporary nature of the liquid varnish bubbles into an endless loop of creation and destruction. It is a visual echo of the moment when form arises through chance and intention before dissolving back into nothingness.
